Where are the best beaches in Costa Adeje?

The two best-known beaches, Playa del Duque and Playa de Torviscas, both fly the Blue Flag for the 2026 season. El Duque is about 390 m of pale sand at the quieter western end, with showers, toilets, sunbed hire and disabled access. Fañabé, next door, is about 600 m long, has a children's area and is one of the livelier beaches in the south.

The promenade runs almost continuously from La Caleta to Los Cristianos, so you can walk between beaches, Puerto Colón marina and the shopping centres such as Plaza del Duque. Further west, La Enramada and the cove at La Caleta are smaller and rockier.

Is Costa Adeje or Playa de las Américas better?

Resort hotels and the marina of Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje, with the Playa de las Américas coastline behind

Costa Adeje is the calmer, more upmarket choice; Playa de las Américas is the livelier one. They share one coastline and the same promenade, and part of Las Américas actually lies in the municipality of Adeje. Nightlife in Las Américas centres on the Verónicas strip, while Costa Adeje is mostly restaurants, bars and hotels.

For a village feel with seafood restaurants, look at La Caleta at the western end; for a quieter, rockier coast further north-west, Callao Salvaje.

Do I need a car in Costa Adeje?

View from the hillside above Costa Adeje over white villas and the resort down to the Atlantic

You do not need a car for the seafront, but you will want one for a villa on the hillside and for trips to Teide, Masca or the north. Most pool villas in Costa Adeje sit on residential slopes above the beaches, which means steep walks back from the promenade.

Our cars are available only together with a stay, with pickup and return at Tenerife South (TFS) or Tenerife North (TFN) airport, so you can drive straight to the villa.
